Jaroslavas Melnikas – prose writer, literary critic.
He was bonr 6 February, 1959 in Smyga, West Ukraine.
In 1981 he graduated from Lvov University, Ukraine (Faculty of Philology). He had attended a post-graduate course at M. Gorki Institute of Literature in Moscow. He worked at Luck Pedagogical Institute and after that at editorial offices of magazines “Laima” and “Moteris”. He has published books in Ukraine and France. His prose was published in “Metai”, “Literatūra ir menas”, “7 meno dienos”, “Nemunas”, etc. His works have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Esperanto, Russian, Ukrainian, Croatian and other languages. He is a member of Ukrainian Writers’ Union. He lives in Vilnius.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1989.
