Jurga Ivanauskaitė

Ivanauskaitė Jurga, prose writer, playwright, translator.
Was born in Vilnius, on November 14, 1961. Died on February 17, 2007.
In 1980 she finished Secondary School of Fine Arts of M. K. Čiurlionis, in 1985 – finished studies of graphic arts at Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. In the same year, the first collection of her short stories The Year of the Lilies of the Valley (Pakalnučių metai) has appeared. She published six novels, a fairy tale for children, trilogy of travels about Himalayas and a collection of essays and publicistical articles.
Books of Jurga Ivanauskaitė had been translated into the English, Latvian, Polish, Russian, German and other languages. In 1994 Jurga Ivanauskaitė left for India for the first time, where in Dharamsala she studied the Tibetian Buddhism. In 1998 she held an exhibition of drawings 108 Mandalas (108 Mandalos), in 1999 – a photography exhibition Tibet – Another Reality (Tibetas – kita realybė).
Since 1988 – the member of LWU.
