Augustinavičienė Nijolė, poetess.
Was born in Marijampolė, on February 18, 1951.
She studied the Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius University, worked at archive of literature and art and periodical.
Since 1997 - the member of LWU.
She is an author of spiritual world-view, adoring the Christian values. A world of the lyric subject is sacrally exalted, the individual and social – patriotic topics are transfused with a sublime vibration of a soul. An intensivity of the inner life approximates some creations to a confession, a prayer: "Sleep, people.../ Sleep, animals and birds.../ Sleep, thoughts.../ And gardens, laden in August.../ Sleep, precipices.../ And heights, that do not know them.../ A night for all, as if a mother, / prays and wakes" (a quote from a poem Night (REX) (Naktis (REX). In her second collection about existence, time and mans fate, she speaks with more condensed poetical speech: "Ages divide us./ Sky and earth./ Life and death./ Ones for other – not forever./ Ones for other – owing forever" (poem Forever (Amžinai).
In relation of the lyric subject with reality, there are sharper corners and more ironical tones... A sapidity of the poetical image is reached with incrustation of the Scripture, art, music, motifs of literature creations and images.
After the introspective self-expression, character of ethical principles and value system, Augustinavičiūtė Nijolė can be collated with the most prominent Lithuanian poets.
