Bakas Vainius

Vainius Bakas – poet, literary critic.

He was born 9 May, 1989 in Ukmergė.
In 2008 he graduated “Šilas” secondary school and his first book was published during his years of studying (2003). In 2012 He finished his Bachelor studies of Lithuanian philology in Vilnius University and in 2014 after his studies of Anthropology and Culture he received a Masters degree. He worked as an editor in “Literatūra ir menas”, now he works as an editor and corrector at different publishing houses. His poetry has been published in various periodicals and anthologies.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 2012.

2013 Prize for young critic during Poetry Spring festival.
2014 Award of Vanda Zaborskaitė for the best Lithuanian literature critic thesis for Masters degree.
2014 Award “Žalvarinė ranka-segtuvas” for book “Kas vėjo – vėjui” during Panevėžys Literary Winter festival.
2015 Literary award of Salomėja Nėris for book “Kas vėjo – vėjui”.
