Stasė Šakytė-Surdokienė – poetess.
She was born 25 July, 1924 in Norgėliai, Klaipėda district.
She graduated from Plungė Gymnasium. She wanted to study literature but because of the situation during the years of 1942-1944 she studied Dentistry at Vytautas Magnus University. In 1944 she moved West and finished her studies in Germany, at Heidelberg University. In 1950 she moved to Baltimore and attended literature courses at Maryland University. She visited Lithuanian for the first time after emigration in 1989.
A member of Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1997.
